What does it take to preserve a 300-year-old adobe church? Every year, community volunteers come to Pecos National Historic Park in northern New Mexico to help with the ‘enjarre’ or remudding of the adobe walls of the Pecos Mission Church. They mix adobe from sand and clay, and apply it to the walls using their hands. Built in 1717, the church remains an important spiritual site for the descendants of the Pecos Pueblo.
