New York City has Track 61, a hidden rail platform beneath Grand Central Terminal under the Waldorf Astoria. Built in the 1930s with a private elevator connecting directly to the hotel. It became famous for Franklin D. Roosevelt. During World War Two FDR used Track 61 to enter New York in complete secrecy. His train would pull into the hidden platform and a car would take him straight to the hotel. Roosevelt had polio and used a wheelchair. This private access let him avoid being photographed. O
