Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Tuesday declared a state of emergency for Songkhla province, which includes southern Thailand’s biggest city, Hat Yai, citing the “unprecedented severity” of the flooding that has caused widespread damage.
DDPM said that as of 6 a.m. on November 25 (Thailand time), the flooding situation in southern Thailand continued to worsen. Floodwaters reached 2 meters high, affecting 2,196,758 people in 4,688 villages in 98 districts of 9 provinces. A total of 798,695 households were affected. DDPM reported 13 deaths in this flood.
