The two president's will be meeting in Alaska on Friday to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, and European leaders will be speaking with Trump beforehand.

Whether the U.S.-Russia summit in Alaska can lead to a deal to produce peace in Ukraine more than 3 1/2 years after Moscow's invasion remains to be seen.

It took Ukraine’s president time and effort to not only repair his diplomatic relations with the Trump administration, but also to prove that no one wants the end of Russia’s all-out war more than Ukraine does.
