The first trailer for Oliver Hermanus' poetic 'The History of Sound,' starring Emmy winner Josh O’Connor and 'Gladiator II' standout Paul Mescal, dropped today.

On Thursday, July 24, Mubi released the first trailer for its upcoming movie The History of Sound, which stars Mescal, 29, and O'Connor, 35, as two young men named Lionel Werthing and David White, who meet while studying music in Boston in the 1910s.

Oliver Hermanus' "The History of Sound" made waves at Cannes for its sensitive portrayal of a love affair between Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor. The film was acquired by MUBI, which will roll the film out theatrically in September as the Oscar race begins to take shape.
