According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, crews were dispatched to the home in Beatty Township around 9:20 p.m.

Two people were found dead following a house fire in northern Minnesota. The fire was reported at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, with firefighters from Cook, Orr, Kinney-Great Scott and Greenwood sent to the residence in Beatty Township, St. Louis County.

On Monday, Xp Lee, a former Brooklyn Park city council member, said he is running for the seat on the DFL ticket. Lee currently works at the Minnesota Department of Health. He is the second DFL candidate running for the seat. Last week, current Brooklyn Park City Council member Christian Eriksen announced his run.

Candidates can begin filing paperwork through July 22 to run for the Minnesota House District 34B seat, previously held by the late Rep. Melissa Hortman. The special election is set for September 16.
