Fans are ready to meet the new Fantastic Four — and that includes the new take on Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner. The actress, who will be playing the Shalla-Bal version of the character in The Fantastic Four: First Steps,

"I was like, 'I don’t know how he will hire me for this job,'" Garner said of speaking with director Matt Shakman.

In First Steps, Garner plays Shalla-Bal, the immortal empress of the plant Zenn-La and Norrin’s lover. In the comics, Norrin becomes the Silver Surfer after becoming the herald of Galactus in exchange for him sparing their planet. The sacrifice meant the lovers were separated for eternity.
