Denver's mayor and the airport CEO announced a $1.25 million feasibility study to see if the nuclear option is viable for satisfying DIA's growing energy demand

The Denver airport, the sixth-busiest in the world, gets its electricity from Xcel Energy. About 30% of its electricity comes from solar energy. Washington said the airport has increased its electric vehicle fleet and is saving electricity, natural gas and water through energy efficiency measures.

Denver is planning to look at the feasibility of nuclear power generation for Denver International Airport. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and Denver International Airport CEO Phil Washington will make a joint announcement Wednesday about studying what are called small module nuclear reactors.
