This evening, the Yankees will play the first of an interleague series against the Cardinals, out under the arch in St. Louis. The Cardinals come in exactly even at 61-61, but that’s good enough for them to still be just a couple games back of the last NL Wild Card.

The now 61-61 Cardinals are mired in the muck. Unable to generate momentum beyond a few days, the gravitational pull of .500 continually pulls them back. Each orbit is elliptical, so with each win a ray of hope bursts forth that this will allow them to escape the surly claws of mediocrity.

Broncos starting quarterback Bo Nix and the first-team offense will get some playing time against the New Orleans Saints in the preseason finale next week, but they won't suit up against the Cards in Week 2. With just a few exceptions, most of Denver's starters won't play against the Cardinals.

Garguilo was the only offensive lineman for the Broncos who played more than one spot against the 49ers, but it was because Calvin Throckmorton left early with an injury. Garguilo played guard on both sides of the line and performed well, but it would be beneficial to see more reps at left guard and center.
