Authorities in Switzerland are working to identify human remains found during a targeted search around Blatten, where a glacier collapse occurred in late May, Valais police told Anadolu on Thursday.
The state of Switzerland's glaciers came into stark and dramatic view of the international community last month when a mudslide from an Alpine mountain submerged the southwestern village of Blatten.
"As part of a coordinated search operation in the Tennmatten area of Blatten, human remains were found and recovered," Valais Cantonal Police said late on Tuesday.
According to an initial estimate, the landslide in Blatten in Valais will cost insurers around 320 million Swiss francs. The people affected have been promised rapid and unbureaucratic support.
