European and NATO leaders announced Sunday they will join President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington to present a united front in talks with President Donald Trump on ending Russia’s war in Ukraine and firming up U.
Zelenskyy said at a news briefing in Kyiv that Putin wants the remaining 9,000 square kilometers (3,500 square miles) of Donetsk under Kyiv’s control, where the war’s toughest battles are grinding on, as part of a ceasefire plan. He said the Russian position was conveyed to him by U.S. officials.
Russia has said its demands from negotiations with Ukraine, which include Kyiv's troops pulling out of several regions in the east, haven't changed.
