Attorneys for 16 Texas families urged a judge in federal district court to halt Senate Bill 10 before Sept. 1, arguing Ten Commandments school displays violate First Amendment protection.

Senate Bill 10 was signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott back in late June, and it’s slated to take effect September 1 across all public classrooms in Texas. In a nutshell, the Ten Commandments, at least the Protestant version, would need to be posted in a “conspicuous” place and of a certain size.
