Neil Young joins the growing number of artists trying to improve upon what he calls “the bad thing that has happened to concerts world-wide”—that is, inflated ticket prices, particularly under Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing system.

That’s the conclusion to be drawn from Neil Young’s most recent post to his Archives site, spelling out his desire to stop (and open contempt for) Platinum priced tickets at any of his upcoming gigs.

Young's decision comes following Smith's 2024 comments calling high ticket prices a "scam" which is "driven by greed."

Young says that Robert Smith "helped me to realize that I have a choice to make and can make a difference for my music loving friends."

Tickets recently went on sale for Neil Young 's globetrotting continuation of his Love Earth Tour with new band the chrome hearts, but he's since had a change of heart about the ticketing system, announcing that Platinum tickets will no longer be available for his shows "very soon."

Young also mentioned that the ‘tip’ came from The Cure’s Robert Smith, who has long rallied against ticket pricing being unaffordable for many fans, after discussing dynamic pricing in late 2024 ahead of The Cure performing live.
