Deandre Ayton was introduced as the newest member of the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, and he gave his reason for signing with the franchise. The 26-year-old center claimed he picked the Lakers because he wanted to be in a situation to compete for a championship.

After he displayed some very concerning behavior with the Portland Trail Blazers over the last two years, Ayton has been accused of being a malcontent by critics. At his introductory press conference after signing with the Lakers, he said he wants to prove those critics wrong.

There are more than depth chart issues behind the Trail Blazers cutting ties with Deandre Ayton. The former first overall pick in 2018 by the Suns now has to find a new team after being bought out of his contract with Portland on Monday.
