A lawsuit claims the Orange County Sheriff's Office was negligent in the Pine Hills shooting, failing to warn the community or capture the suspect sooner.

Family members of a murdered television news reporter in Orlando and a 9-year-old girl are suing the sheriff in Orange County, saying his agency could have prevented the killings.

The families of T’Yonna Major and Spectrum 13 reporter Dylan Lyons claim the sheriff's office could have prevented the killings. The sheriff’s office said it will ask the judge to throw out the lawsuit and said only the shooting suspect is to blame for the deaths.

The family of a Colorado man who was shot and killed by a Douglas County sheriff's deputy earlier this month "strongly dispute" claims made by the sheriff's office regarding that shooting and the man's actions leading up to it.

An attorney representing Seabron's family says the video "does not support the Sheriff's claims that this was shooting was justified and reasonable."
