Cloudbursts are causing chaos in mountainous parts of India and Pakistan, with tremendous amounts of rain falling in a short period of time over a concentrated area.

Flash floods triggered by heavy rains have killed more than 360 people in Pakistan and India and led to severe devastation across the South Asian region. At least 307 people have died and 23 have been injured in Pakistan, according to the latest details from the nation’s National Disaster Management Authority.

SRINAGAR, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Rescuers in Indian Kashmir used shovels and earthmovers to search for survivors under boulders and debris on Friday, a day after sudden floods triggered by heavy rains killed at least 60 people and left 200 others missing.

The rallies came nearly three months after Pakistan and India exchanged military strikes over a mass shooting in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir.

Pakistani Army chief Asim Munir, during his US visit, reiterated Pakistan's stance on Kashmir, calling it the country's "jugular vein." He emphasized that Kashmir remains an unresolved international issue,

"Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan's stock-in-trade," India 's External Affairs Ministry said in a public statement on its website. "It is also regrettable that these remarks should have been made from the soil of a friendly third country."

“By repeatedly endorsing Pakistan and ignoring India’s core concerns, Trump has eroded two decades of mutual trust, likening the setback to a return to Cold War–era suspicion and strategic distance,” the report quoted a senior Indian diplomat as saying.
