Flags lowered to honor late Florida lawmaker
Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered the flags to be at half-staff for the Democratic senator who served for nearly two decades in the Florida Legislature. She was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2006 then served in the Florida Senate from 2012 to 2016 before returning back to the House for four years.
Senate plans to honor Geraldine Thompson in Tallahassee
The Senate will hold a memorial service next week to honor Sen. Geraldine Thompson, who died last month. The service to remember Thompson’s life is scheduled for noon Thursday in the Senate Chambers. Afterward, Senators and Thompson’s family will eat in the Senate lounge.
