Messick was fantastic today. Looked like he was making his 167th career start… certainly not his 1st. Vogt pulled Messick with 2 outs in the 7th to let Gaddis face McCann… which is a nothingburger, I guess.
Messick, 24, the club’s No. 12 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, has impressed in Triple-A Columbus this season, posting a 3.47 ERA with 119 strikeouts across 98 2/3 innings in 20 starts.
