All Colorado locations of Del Taco, a popular fast food restaurant that serves Mexican food, were abruptly closed Thursday, except for one. The company said in an emailed statement to USA TODAY on Friday that Del Taco franchise locations in Denver and Colorado Springs "are temporarily closed.

Del Taco abruptly closed all but one of its Colorado restaurants on Thursday with no explanation, according to signs posted on doors and a statement from the company.

It serves freshly grilled and marinated chicken and carne asada steak, slow-cooked beans made from scratch and house-made guacamole made fresh daily.

Joining the ranks of other long-standing chains such as itself, Del Taco has abruptly closed nearly all of its Colorado-based restaurants. A spokesperson with the chain noted that 18 out of the 19 locations are only “temporarily closed” and are expected to reopen “as soon as possible.”

Franchisee Newport Ventures, which declared bankruptcy in October, shuttered all of its locations after a lender refused further funding.

The Grand Junction location will remain open because it’s operated by a different franchise. But the other 18 Del Tacos in the state closed abruptly Thursday. The chain hasn’t commented on what prompted the closure.
