Google Maps updated the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, a change made by the Trump administration, for map users in the United States. Shortly after the update to Google Maps, critics said they attempted to leave negative reviews about the newly renamed body of water.

Google Maps has blocked reviews for the Gulf of Mexico, after criticism of its decision to label it "Gulf of America" for users in the US.The tech giant updated the name of the location on Wednesday after President Donald Trump ordered it to be changed in official government documents.

Popular map services such as Google Maps, Apple Maps and Bing Maps have all changed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in the U.S.
