Nationally, there were 7,554 single-bias incidents involving 10,528 victims in 2020. Of the 6,431 known offenders, 55.2% were white and 20.2% were Black or African American.
In 2020, Colorado had six anti-Asian hate crimes, the same as in 2019. Neither year approached records set in the early- and mid-1990s or several years in the 2000s.
Nationally, the number of hate crimes reported in 2020 rose 6%, from 7,314 in 2019 to 7,759 in 2020. The 2020 number is the highest recorded nationally since 2008.
