In the NFL, one big move from a team can have a trickle-down effect, impacting the moves of other teams or players. One example: The Seattle Seahawks traded veteran quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders Friday, with potentially changed the outlook for another signal-caller who had major question marks going into the offseason.
Quarterback has been a position of need in Las Vegas since the franchise cut ties with Derek Carr following the 2022 campaign. Five quarterbacks have started at least one game for the Raiders over the past two seasons in Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell, Desmond Ridder, Jimmy Garoppolo and Brian Hoyer.
The Athletics will play in Northern California for at least the next three seasons. They will also represent their future home in Las Vegas and brought four of their star players to drive home that point.
