Packers president Mark Murphy has let it be known that he is very much against the play, complaining recently that it is "almost an automatic first down on plays of a yard or less" and citing the Washington Commanders' comical repeated attempts to stop the play in the NFC championship game.
The Green Bay Packers are reportedly trying to get the NFL to ban the Philadelphia Eagles’ “tush-push” play. This play is used in short-yardage situations, where two players line up behind quarterback Jalen Hurts and push him forward after the snap, helping him gain extra yards on a quarterback sneak.
Matt LaFleur’s team ended 2024 on a three-game skid, which makes the Green Bay Packers' push for the Tush Push to be banned look like sour grapes.
One of the major criticisms surrounding the tush push is that it is a dangerous play that can lead to injuries. However, the league combated that as NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent announced there were no injuries on the play during the 2024 season, according to the league data.
