Hightower joined the Bears back in 2022, where he's served as special teams coordinator for the past three seasons. He previously served as the San Francisco 49ers special teams coordinator (2017-21) and was an assistant special teams coach with the Bears (2016), 49ers (2015) and Washington Redskins (2010-11).
The Bears had some bright spots on defense individually, but as a unit, had too big of a drop-off during the losing streak.
Fortunately for Hightower, the feeling was mutual, and he was offered the chance to remain in the role that he's held since 2022. He's thrilled to be back because he loves the players he's worked with and is eager to help them reach the next level. The Texas native is also amped about how Johnson will approach special teams.
