Scam warnings have been issued in multiple states over criminals pretending to be from the Department of Motor Vehicles. The fraud scheme—which sees the attacker issue fake traffic tickets in order to get them to click on an unsafe link—has been reported in Florida,

Officials with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS) said they are aware of a recent text scam that’s targeting individuals. The text states that individuals must pay a fine or their license will be revoked and/or their vehicle repossessed.

"These scammers flood phones with these texts, hoping to trick unsuspecting [people] into handing over their personal information."
