2 skiers killed in central Oregon avalanche ‘loved the outdoors,’ had longtime family roots in Bend

Authorities identified the two backcountry skiers who were killed Monday in an avalanche in Oregon’s central Cascade Mountains as Terance “Terry” Skjersaa, 57, and his wife, Susan “Renee” Skjersaa, 52. The couple were members of the family that founded Bend’s oldest ski shop.
