Barrick Mining beat profit expectations for the second quarter and raised its dividend by 50% on Monday, as record-high gold prices helped offset lower production and a $1.04 billion charge from losing control of its Loulo-Gounkoto mine in Mali.

On an adjusted basis that strips out items including certain one-time costs and the impact of foreign-exchange movements, earnings also came in at 47 cents a share, rising from 32 cents last year and 1 cent ahead of the mean forecast of analysts polled by FactSet.
