After paranormal investigator Dan Rivera was found dead amid a national tour with the Annabelle doll, a known inspiration for The Conjuring films, the coroner addressed its role in his death.

The Adams County, Pennsylvania, coroner, Francis Dutrow said the Raggedy Ann doll named Annabelle was not in the room where Rivera died this week. Rivera was found unresponsive by his coworkers in his hotel room and was on a stop as part of the “Devils on the Run tour” with the doll in Gettysburg when he was found, Fox News reported.

Annabelle's story was partly portrayed in the film, "The Conjuring," which told the story of a Burrillville family's battle with malevolent spirits.

While Annabelle the doll is real, the movie is not a true story. In Annabelle, a female cult member named Annabelle Higgins kills herself while holding the doll, and the demon she helped summon possesses it afterward.
