Though it wasn’t a white Christmas, a strong storm is expected to deliver impactful snow and ice that could snarl travel.
Snowfall projections have jumped yet again for the major post-Christmas storm, with the latest National Weather Service map now showing up to 8 inches or more in several tristate communities. The newest forecast,
"Low pressure will approach the area Friday afternoon and with cold air already in place, snow will become likely across the area through early Saturday," according to the statement. There's a 50% to 90% chance of 3 inches or more of snowfall from Long Island through New York City, according to the forecast.
Hundreds of flights were canceled and thousands delayed Saturday as a winter storm hit the U.S., with more disruption expected.
