Yes, it is only possible to install mods on Minecraft Java Edition at this time because, for some reason unknown to us, Mojang is not willing to support community mods on the Bedrock Edition.

Just note that mods and resource packs only work with the "Java Edition" of "Minecraft," available for Mac, Windows, and Linux computers.
