Canned tuna has been recalled, including some with an H-E-B label, at Texas grocery stores after a manufacturing defect put the product at risk of contamination that could cause potentially fatal food poisoning.

Tri-Union Seafoods has initiated a voluntary recall of specific canned tuna products due to a manufacturing defect in the "easy-open" pull tab lids. This defect may compromise the seal integrity, potentially leading to contamination with Clostridium botulinum,

California-based Tri-Union Seafoods issued the voluntary recall for canned tuna sold under H-E-B and Trader Joe's brand names. The tuna is also sold at Costco, Kroger, Walmart and other locations under Genova and Van Camp's labels.
