TEL AVIV, Israel -- Israel faced sharp criticism as it stopped the entry of all food and other supplies into Gaza on Sunday and warned of “additional consequences” for Hamas if a fragile ceasefire isn't extended. Mediators Egypt and Qatar accused Israel of violating humanitarian law by using starvation as a weapon.

JERUSALEM — Israel says it is cutting off its electricity supply to Gaza . The full effects of that are not immediately clear, but the territory’s desalination plants receive power for producing drinking water.

The move, which will mainly affect a single wastewater treatment plant, appeared intended to put pressure on Hamas.
