A strong winter weather system has the potential to develop into a bomb cyclone off the East Coast later this weekend.
An already sodden Far North Queensland could be at risk of more flooding as a tropical low builds off the Gulf of Carpentaria. The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has warned a low, named 18U, over the water in the western Gulf has a moderate chance of strengthening into a tropical cyclone over the next week.
