A Chicago police officer was relieved of police powers and reassigned following a fatal March 9 shooting in Humboldt Park that remains under investigation.

A New Haven man drove his vehicle across Durham Road on Friday and struck a utility pole, causing "significant damage" to both the vehicle and the pole, police said.

Authorities said the man shot himself after a spotlight was directed at him and was pronounced dead at the scene.
