According to the Kentucky Education Department, KRS 158.075 states that public schools around the state have to observe Veterans Day or have no school in honor of it one of the five school days before the holiday. JCPS and Oldham County Schools had no school on Nov. 4, according to their school calendars.

Jeffersontown began its Veterans Day celebrations early with an event at the Jeffersonian on Sunday. Veterans, active duty military and their loved ones gathered to honor those who served our country.
