Keep your eyes on the skies from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, and you might see an unusual cosmic convergence: two meteor showers, the Southern Delta Aquariids and the Alpha Capricornids, peaking in intensity on the same night.

Morning and evening observers can catch shooting stars from both the Southern Delta Aquariids’ peak and the ramp-up of the upcoming Perseids.

The Southern Delta Aquariids are a meteor shower typically active for a few weeks starting from mid-July. The shower travels at a velocity of 25 miles per second, according to the American Meteor Society (AMS) and is best seen by those living further south.
