A synagogue in Rutherford went up in flames early Friday, drawing a response from firefighters across Bergen County before the building collapsed. No injuries were reported, but police said a rabbi and his family escaped unharmed. The 4-alarm fire began shortly before 3 a.m. at Beth El Chabad in the 100 block of Montross Avenue, authorities said.
