The battle between Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and OpenAI’s Sam Altman for the industry’s top AI talent shows no signs of cooling off. This time, Zuckerberg appears to have secured two more researchers from OpenAI.

OpenAI researcher Jason Wei will reportedly join Meta’s new Superintelligence Lab. Another team member, Hyung Won Chung, might also join Meta, as the company works to catch up to rivals in the AGI race.

OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman hasn’t yet spoken to Mark Zuckerberg since the Meta Platforms Inc. chief executive officer poached some of OpenAI’s top engineers, but he’s anticipating a meeting at the Sun Valley conference this week and “looking forward to it.

Meta is reportedly offering massive salaries – up to Rs 1,600 crore – to top AI researchers from Apple and OpenAI. These hires will drive its Superintelligence Lab and long-term push towards AGI.

"Here, people say, 'I want the fewest number of people reporting to me and the most GPUs,'" Mark Zuckerberg said about the AI talent war.

The AI company's new product can order a wedding dress and complete other complex tasks. CEO Sam Altman called it "a new level of capability for AI systems."
