It was a shocking change in direction, even for the Pohlads, and went against what MLB commissioner Rob Manfred told us one month ago. Instead of selling, the Pohlads will welcome two new minority investors, who are being brought in to help pay down the $400+ million the Twins have accrued in debt.

After exploring a variety of options over the past 10 months, the Pohlad family will remain the principal owner of the club and add new investors instead. Carl Pohlad, a banking magnate and the late grandfather of Joe Pohlad, purchased the Twins in 1984 for $44 million.

The Pohlad family said they intend to keep the Twins franchise, a change of heart after previously announcing their intentions to sell the team.
