President-elect Donald Trump named Jay Clayton on Thursday to head the U.S. attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York, and he selected two members of his legal team to prominent Justice Department positions.

President-elect Donald Trump said he wants Jay Clayton to serve as U.S. Attorney for Manhattan, leading the Justice Department office known as being the sheriff of Wall Street. Clayton would replace Damian Williams, who is leading the criminal case against Mayor Eric Adams.

If confirmed by the Senate, Clayton would lead one of the most important federal prosecutor offices in the country.
