Tuesday night belonged to New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, who in the bottom of the third inning — during his second at-bat of the night — launched a home run to right-center field for his 253rd career blast in a Mets uniform.

Pete Alonso hit a two-run home run against the Braves on Tuesday night, moving him past Darryl Strawberry and into first place on the Mets' all-time homer list.

Radio broadcaster Howie Rose read a heartfelt speech, highlighting Alonso’s 53 first-year home runs and postseason heroics. A special video tribute — narrated by Strawberry — then played on the jumbotron as fans around the stadium gave the 30-year-old a standing ovation.
