A traffic accident in western Afghanistan has killed 73 people, including 17 children, most of whom were on a bus carrying Afghan migrants deported from Iran, a Taliban official confirmed to BBC Pashto.

At least 71 people, including 17 children, have been killed in western Afghanistan after a bus carrying refugees deported from Iran burst into flames following a collision with a fuel truck. The accident happened on Tuesday night when the passenger bus was passing through Guzara district in Herat province.

78 people have died after a bus carrying Afghan migrants collided with two other vehicles in western Afghanistan. The state-run Bakhtar News Agency says it was one of the deadliest accidents in the country in recent years.
